England's Longest National Trail

... is 630 miles in length. It runs from Minehead in Somerset, via the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole in Dorset.

National Trails are maintained by an organisation called National Trails (it does what it says on the tin). As far as I can work out, National Trails is a trading name used by Walk Unlimited, a private company based in Halifax. There are 16 National Trails in England and Wales, and 27 Great Trails in Scotland (which are admnistered separately). Wikipedia lists dozens (if not hundreds – I haven't bothered to count) more long distance footpaths in England, Wales and Scotland, and one in Northern Ireland.

The National Trails include the England Coast Path, which when complete (planned for 2020) will be 2,796 miles long.
